Originally there was silence. That of Malek, the filmmaker’s father, who for years said nothing of his childhood in Algeria. And then, the need to break the silence, with a script that he gives to his children, to start telling his story. Several years later, the father and daughter finally make the journey to Mansourah, his native village: seeing his house, and meeting other men who experienced the same heartbreak. Little by little, the film reveals what Malek, like many others, has long kept quiet about.

There are many people in Bangkok who speak a language that Storm doesn’t understand and then eat food which Storm has never before tasted.

At Home in the World, is a study of a class of children at a school for asylum-seekers in Denmark at a time of increasing tensions around the themes of immigration and integration. At Home in the World tracks the school days of the five children and provides a new perspective on what it means for a child to be on the run and how to make a home for yourself in a new country.

Storm is really excited. The school is very big and there are a lot of rules and a lot of things to learn. Storm doesn't know any of the other children who will start, but he hopes he will soon make some new friends. Although Storm is quite nervous, he thinks it will be fun to start school.

In her documentary comedy, Maja Friis is on the heels of pianist Niels Lan Doky, a few days before the opening of his new jazz club, The Standard, when he has more than enough on his plate with builders, painters and a prima donna of a singer who is not particularly happy about getting a number 24 from the local takeaway for dinner. But Doky (mostly) keeps his cool, and the filmmaker Maja Friis is there right until the opening night, when the music finally fills the beautiful functionalist building by the harbour.
